FAQ-12
12) Which Sports Injuries Respond to HBOT?
Clinical experience with HBOT for sports injuries is limited, but it has been shown to be effective for crush injuries and other traumatic peripheral ischemias because it alleviates hypoxia and reduces edema. HBOT can be considered as an adjunctive therapy for many different sports injuries, but treatment should began as soon as possible after injury diagnosis. HBOT has been used to treat joint, muscle, ligament, and tendon injuries in soccer players in Europe, and in a double-blind study proved itself effective for acute ankle injuries. One research study showed that when HBOT was used in conjunction with physiotherapy, the recovery time for sports injuries was reduced by 70%.
